About the CompTIA A+ certification

 comptia a plus

About the CompTIA A+ certification

A+ (A Plus) is an entry-level computer certification for PC computer service technicians. The exam is designed to certify the competency of entry-level PC computer service professionals in installing, maintaining, customizing, and operating personal computers. The A+ certification is sponsored by the Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA). CompTIA is a large trade group, founded in 1982 and made up of resellers, distributors, and manufacturers. It sets voluntary guidelines dealing with business ethics and professionalism, and is involved with many issues including product returns, warranty claims, and price protection.

Historically, A+ Certification was a lifetime certificate, but as of 2011, the A+ certificate must be renewed every three years by retaking the A+ test. Otherwise, certificate holders must pay a CEU (Continuing Education Units) fee to maintain certification.

The A+ exam contains situational, traditional, and identification types of questions. All of the questions are multiple choice, and there is only one correct answer for each question. The A+ exam is open to anybody, although it is designed to be taken by those with at least six months of job experience as service technicians.

Currently, A+ is the only major non-vendor-specific hardware certification available for IBM-compatible computer systems. Increasingly, many help desk positions as well as service centers are requiring A+ certification or similar experience as a basis for hiring.

CompTIA also sponsors certification for document imaging (Certified Document Imaging Architech [CDIA]) and a network certification exam (Network+). The CompTIA certifications are in general more basic and less product-specific than other certifications, such as Microsoft's MCSE or a Novell CNE.

CompTIA formerly offered a Macintosh module and certificate in the repair and installation of Apple computer systems. This module has been discontinued for several years, and currently the only hardware certification for Macintosh computer systems is available through Apple. For more, see Apple's Training and Certification page.

For more about A+ Certification, visit CompTIA.

You can take the A+ certification exam, as well as exams for many other certifications, at a number of testing

3 Reasons to Get IT Certifications

 comptia a+ entry level jobs

Actually, it has a lot to do with your personal why. Why do you want to pursue a career in IT? Is it the longevity of a satisfying career doing something you’re passionate about that’s attractive? Or is it having the flexibility to work from anywhere while still making a good salary that’s intriguing? Perhaps it’s both – or something else altogether. Whatever your reason for wanting to work in technology, IT certifications are a great place to start. Let’s explore why.

3 Reasons to Get IT Certifications

Earning an IT certification is advantageous for a variety of reasons.

  1. A third-party credential validates the knowledge and the skills you claim to have.

This is really important in the eyes of employers.

  2. What you learn during your certification training will most certainly help you on the job.

If you want to be successful, being good at what you do is essential.

  3. Taking the initiative to obtain an IT certification shows that you are proactive and committed.
  4. Employers like to see creativity, resourcefulness and leadership in employees.

Preparing for and obtaining an IT certification is a great way to stand out from the crowd. But these aren’t the only reasons to get certified. Again, let’s go back to your why.

How Can an IT Certification Help You Achieve Your Personal Goals?

Your goal: I want to build my foundational knowledge in technology and land an entry-level job.

Are IT certifications worth it? Yes. CompTIA A+, for example, is considered the industry standard for establishing a career in IT. If you want to learn the basic principles of technology, CompTIA A+ is a great starting point. And don’t just take it from us. Indeed, Monster and Reddit users agree!

Your goal: I want to explore a specialty like computer networking or cybersecurity.

Are IT certifications worth it? Yes. The 2020 IT Industry Outlook report says that 48% of IT pros plan on building technical skills within their current area of specialization, and 45% of IT pros plan on building a technical skill in a new area this year.

Your goal: I want to continue to further my IT career.

Are IT certifications worth it? Yes. Most of us want to be promoted, take on more responsibility and make more money. Staying on track takes a bit of planning. Consulting the CompTIA Career Roadmap allows you to see all job categories and career paths that are available with specific certifications.

Levels of IT Certifications

IT certifications are available at any experience level. Most could be categorized as beginner, intermediate or advanced. Having a beginning certification on your resume can very likely land you an interview for an entry-level position. But that’s not the case for positions that require more experience and training.Increasing your earning potential may require a specialized set of skills that eclipses the entry-level certification. CompTIA Stackable Certifications allow you to build (and validate) a specific sequence of skills to advance your career.

In order to win the job of your dreams, you have to adequately prepare for it. That’s why CompTIA not only categorizes its certifications by experience level, but also by career pathway.CompTIA has four IT certification series that test different knowledge standards:

  • Core Skills
  • Infrastructure
  • Cybersecurity
  • Additional Professional

Core certifications, like CompTIA A+, lay the groundwork for the specialized pathway certifications, and additional professional certifications cover necessary IT skills like project management. Let’s take a closer look at what it all means.

Core Skills

Every IT position requires a baseline knowledge on topics like operating systems, hardware, computer networking and more. CompTIA’s core IT skills certifications level the playing field and lay the foundation for a successful career in IT, no matter what path you take. An IT certification in this category can help you land your first job as an technical support specialist or at the help desk technician.

red hat security certification

 red hat security

IT security is an umbrella term that includes network, internet, endpoint, API, cloud, application, container security, and more. It's about establishing a set of security strategies that work together to help protect your digital data. Not so long ago IT security was a checkpoint at the end of a development cycle. It was slow. Businesses today are looking for ways to create an integrated security program so that they can adapt faster and more efficiently. Think of it as security that is built in, rather than bolted on.

What is IT security?

IT security protects the integrity of information technologies like computer systems, networks, and data from attack, damage, or unauthorized access. A business trying to compete in a world of digital transformation needs to understand how to adopt security solutions that begin with design. This is what it means to "shift security left"—to make security a part of the infrastructure and product lifecycle as early as possible. This helps security be both proactive and reactive.

Continuous security is fed by a routine system of feedback and adaptation, often handled through the use of automatic checkpoints. Automation ensures fast and effective feedback that doesn’t slow the product lifecycle down. Integrating security in this way also means that updates and responses can be implemented quickly and holistically as the security landscape changes.

juniper recruitment details

They hire through campus in limited colleges. If you are not from these high end colleges then the option for you is to find a perfect reference and apply through him/her. If you are awesome with networks & certified (CCNA Certification/Network Certifications/RHCE are a must) then you may have your chances. But yes the number they hire is quite low.

I know few students who were from a small college from Madhya Pradesh and got offer from juniper 3 years back. It was through the reference of their network trainer who himself was an Ex Employee of Juniper. The students selected were top rated in their Network & Information security skills.

Searching Reference: Present Employees or HR Managers - Best way through Linkedin. Also keep track of their careers page for any openings posted.

I joined Juniper networks Bangalore in 2012 and I worked there for almost two years. Following is my experience there.

1) Facility wise Juniper networks is top notch. They give individual cubicles to developers. Also they give RSUs, better than average market salary, they have good transportation etc.

2) The fact is Juniper networks is having some tough time in market for last several years. None of the new products is doing well in the market. For example I worked in a product called Qfabric. After several years of development and many million dollars of investment they scrapped the product. There is some kind of frustration, desperation and lack of vision among the top executives. This company now has all the symptoms of a sinking ship. They fire people randomly. Even senior level people are not spared. They fired their last CEO in 10 months. As a consequence this has become a place for playing politics where people are busy in saving their a** at the expense of others rather than doing any meaningful work for which Juniper was once famous for.

To summarize I will suggest potential job seekers to avoid this company for now. Things may turn better in future.https://www.fieldengineer.com/skills/juniper-network-engineer

Automotive technicians, sometimes called mechanics or service technicians, inspect vehicles and diagnose and repair problems. Because the automotive industry is becoming increasingly reliant on computer technology to power vehicle systems, automotive technicians who have an associate degree related to automobile repair may have an edge when looking for jobs.

Many schools across the country offer comprehensive automotive technician training. For example, Century College in Minnesota prepares students to take National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification exams in many areas such as engine repair, brakes and electrical systems.

Automotive Technician Salary

Bureau of Labor Statistics figures indicate that automotive technician salary averaged $44,890 per year and an average hourly wage of $21.58 as of May 2019. Half of automotive technicians reported annual salaries of between $31,250 and $56,140 and hourly wages between $15.03 and $26.99.

The 10 percent of automotive techs who earned the lowest made $24,400 or less per year, and the top 10 percent of earners made $68,880 or more per year. The BLS reports that auto technicians who receive certification from the National Institute of Automotive Service Excellence may experience higher pay and better job opportunities.

Geographical Pay Variations

Bureau of Labor Statistics figures as of May 2019 indicate that automotive technicians in the District of Columbia averaged $61,350 per year to help offset the high cost of living. The next highest paying state was Alaska where auto technicians reported average annual earnings of $53,110. Other high-paying states included New Jersey, Connecticut and California, with average salaries of $50,960, $50,860 and $50,230, respectively.

Some of the lowest wages were reported in the South, but the cost of living is also more affordable than in other parts of the country. Arkansas, Louisiana and Mississippi paid automotive technicians between $21,300 and $41,240 per year.

Highest Paid Auto Mechanics

Automotive technicians employed as of May 2019 in the natural gas distribution sector earned the highest annual salary in the U.S. at $69,930. Those who worked in aerospace manufacturing averaged $68,000 per year. Auto technicians working on the pipeline made $65,210 per year. Courier and express delivery services paid their auto mechanics an average annual wage of $64,010.

Automotive Technician Job Outlook

The Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates that the job growth rate for auto mechanics will decline an estimated 4 percent between 2019 and 2029, in contrast to the projected average growth rate of 4 percent for all occupations. The proliferation of electric vehicles with fewer maintenance requirements will contribute to the decline in job growth.

Most job opportunities will be for automobile dealers and independent garages. While those who have formal postsecondary training should have good prospects for finding employment, those without postsecondary training will find themselves competing for entry-level positions within the industry.
